It seems as though there is much more information available about the 8 figures from this set than the cards. I do know that there were 16 cards total. 15 cards were part of the standard set and 1 was a "header card" and was supposedly harder to find. The cards are smaller than standard trading cards and measure approximately 2 1/4" x 2 3/4".
My dear Australian friend (and fellow Simpsons collector) Spott has graciously provided me with the following additional information regarding the Lucky Dip Cards and Figures:
"As far as I know this was an Australian only release. On the heels of their new chocolate bar - Milky Way , Mars confectionary released a new collectable product ; the Milky Way Lucky Dip - a small box that contained a Milky Way bar, a card and a toy (similar to Kinder surprise). These were available individually or in a 3-pack. Approx Jan 1997 saw the release of a Simpsons Lucky Dip (below)."
"Available was a set of 15 mini-cards , one "mystery" card and a set of 8 toys. 6 toys join together to form "the couch" and separate is the TV and Flanders (standing). Toys were originally packaged in sealed plastic bag with a warning card (left). The toys have since been seen in European products , but as far as I know these were the first release. Unfortunately the Simpsons promo was available only for about 6 months at the most. The follow up Lucky Dips were pathetic (in my opinion) and probably contributed to the eventual downfall of the line altogether (approx June 1998). A truly unique and rare set. Never seen a mint condition sealed box since they were on the shelves (doh)."
Lucky Dip eh ?
