A) Geffen Card ($50) - This card was
released by Geffen as part of a 17 card set to promote various artists and
albums. The set was called "Geffen/DGC Homeruns" and is very
hard to find. I have only ever seen one and I do not know the year they
were released. They were given out in a box that resembles a deck of
playing cards. The list of cards from this set includes (in no particular
order since the cards are not numbered):
0) Box
1)
The Simpsons - Sing The
Blues (Simpsons)
2) Guns N' Roses - Appetite For Destruction
3) Berlin - Best of Berlin 1979 - 1988
4) Pat Metheny Group - Still Life (Talking)
5) The Dukes of Stratosphear - Chips From The
Chocolate Fireball
6) XTC - Oranges and Lemons
7) Kitaro - The Light of the Spirit
8) Don Henley - The End of the Innocence
9) Nelson - After the Rain
10) Tesla - Mechanical Resonance
11) Whitesnake - Whitesnake
12) Rickie Lee Jones - Flying Cowboys
13) Amy Grant - The Collection
14) Cher - Heart of Stone
15) The Sundays - Reading, Writing and Arithmetic
16) Peter Gabriel - So
17) Aerosmith - Pump
B) "Bart Knows" Cards ($15 - $20 for the set) - This set of 10 cards was released (probably unauthorized) around 1990 but I am not sure. The cards pop up once in a while if you are patient. Nothing unusual worth mentioning.
C) "Bart Bootleg" Cards ($20 - $25 for the set) - This set of 7 cards was released (probably unauthorized and not together) around 1990 but I am not sure. The cards are primarily a sign of the times referencing Bo and Saddam Hussein. Nothing unusual worth mentioning but they are getting harder to find.
D) 1991 Wacky Package Sticker - "Bart Wimpson / Fatt Gaining" ($10) - At this time, the only thing I know about this sticker is it is number 24. I am not sure what set is is from but it is dated 1991.
E) "Krusty Flakes Valuable Coupon" Card ($3 - $5) - This card is very common and shows up at card shows and on eBay quite frequently. It is slightly smaller than the standard trading card and made of plastic (like a credit card). Otherwise, there is nothing unusual worth mentioning.
F) 1993 Bongo Comics Group Spectacular Card (Seasons Greetings and Happy New Year) ($100+) - This card is very rare and was given out along with the Bongo Comics Group Spectacular Book. It is 4" X 5 1/2". Each card is individually numbered in silver out of 1000. The Group Spectacular Book is the second rarest of all the Simpsons Comics. Like the card, it also was limited to 1000 copies and each one was hand numbered in silver out of 1000. The number on the card matched the number on the book. The book is a limited edition hard copy compilation (reprint) of the Simpsons Comics #1, Radioactive Man #1, Bartman #1 and Itchy & Scratchy #1. It is a hard copy with a nice cover. the pages are the same material as the original comic strips. It was never sold in stores and I believe it was given out to employees during the holidays in 1993.
G) 1993 Overstreet CBM#7 Card featuring Radioactive Man and
Bartman (various $$$)- This card was found in
Overstreet CBM#7 Magazine dated November 1993. This card is very
interesting because it comes in several different versions. The basic card
is the same in each version. The only difference is the color of the
border. There are at least 6 different colors that I have but I have
heard rumors that some more may exist. If you have any of these other
colors or have ever
seen these and can confirm this, please email me at
yale@donthaveacowman.com.
This is the only Simpsons or Simpsons Related Cards I
do not have. The colors include:
1) Black Border ($10 - $15)
2) Blue Border ($15 - $20)
3) Purple Border ($25
- $30)
4) Green Border ($25-
$30)
5)
Red Border ($40-
$50)
6)
Yellow Border ($40
- $50)
H) 1993 Previews Cover Card ($50) -
This card was released by Previews Magazine as part of a 14 card set. It
was the "first Previews Cover Cards set, reproducing the best covers from months
past." I am not sure how many were produced but it is a hard card to find.
Here is the complete list of all 14 cards (including the checklist):
1) Previews Cards Checklist

(SIMPSONS - RADIOACTIVE MAN & BARTMAN)
14) Previews Vol. 3 #11 - November 1993
I) 1994 Skybox Pog Promo/Checklist Card ($5) - This card is really more of a checklist than a promo card. It is fairly common and the is nothing unusual worth mentioning. There is however an actual pog promo (see section on pogs) that is very rare and hard to find.
J) 1994 Australian TV WEEK Collector Cards (Series Number One) ($20
for Regular Card / $35 for Gold Card) - This card was released as part
of a 24 card set to promote Australian television shows and popular
actors/actresses. A second set was released in 1995/1996 and those cards
are much easier to find. These cards were issued as both a standard set
and also as a "gold" set. The cards are the same in each set except for a
"gold stamp". They came in issues of Aussie TV Week and is was quite
difficult to put a full set together (especially a "gold" set). There was
also a specially made binder to keep the set in. While the cards are the
same size as regular trading cards, they are thinner and the color quality is
not as good (see scans). Here is the complete list
of cards from this set:

K) 1995/1996 Australian TV WEEK (Classic) Cards ($10
for Regular Card / $20 for Gold Card) - This card was released as part of
a 32 card set to promote Australian television shows and popular
actors/actresses. It was a follow up to the 1994 set. This set is
much easier to find and as a result the cards are not worth as much as the first
set. These cards were also issued as both a standard set and also as a
"gold" set. As with the 1994 set, the cards are the same in each set
except for a "gold stamp". They came in issues of Aussie TV Week and
even though there were "lots" of cards produced, it still wasn't
easy to
put a full set together (especially a "gold" set). There was also a
specially made binder to keep the set in. While the cards are the same
size as regular trading cards, they are thinner and the color quality is not as
good (see scans). Here is the complete list of cards from this set:

L) 1998 Krusty Product Stickers ($10 each) - I really dont know where these came from or if there are any more but I would value them at about $10 each based on their scarcity. If anyone can supply me with information about these stickers, I would appreciate it.
M) 1999 Yeardley Smith Autographed Card ($90) - This is really more like a post card than a trading card. It is roughly 4" x 6". It is a limited edition of 1000 cards and each card is numbered. I have 133/1000. Each card comes with a certificate of authenticity from Cards, Inc. The cards were originally sold on QVC UK and are quite hard to find now.
N) 2001 Comics 2001 Charity Deck of Cards ($100
for any card or the full deck). This was a limited edition of 500
decks of cards. All of the art and decks were auctioned for the benefit of
Childline at the Comics 2001 Festival held in Bristol, UK on May 26-27, 2001.
While there were 65 different drawings (some cards had more than one drawing) 3
of the cards had a "Simpsons" theme. The
8 of Spades (drawn by Dave
Windett) was the easiest to find with Bart clearly displayed. However, two
other cards also had a "Simpsons" theme: the 2 of
Hearts by Simon Gurr and the
9 of clubs by Paul Palmer.
Each of these cards has among other characters...Itchy & Scratchy.
The decks originally sold for between $75 and $150. Now, they are very
hard to find. Here is the complete list of
each artist and accompanying playing cards from this set:

O) 2003 Comics 2003 Charity Deck of Cards ($50
for any card or the full deck). This was a limited edition of 500
decks of cards. All of the art and decks were auctioned for the benefit of
Childline at the Comics 2003 Festival held in Bristol, UK on May 24-25, 2003.
Whereas the last deck was an actual deck of cards with actual suits and numbers
(i.e 8 of spades), this deck was did not resemble playing cards. There
were a total of 50 different drawings (including the cover card) and very few of
them had suits and / or numbers. There was only 1 "Simpsons" themed
card. Card #38, entitled "Dennis and Friends" (drawn by
Paul Palmer) had Bart and Maggie flying on a card that looked like a magic
carpet. There were other characters (including "Dennis the Menace" as the
name implies) as well and one of the "magic carpet" cards was a 3 of clubs.
The decks originally sold for around $25 USD...much less than the
previous decks. Here is the complete list of

Q) 1994 Shadowbart (#0) Card ($100 - $200) This is the super chase card from the 1994 Images of Shadowhawk Card set. The set had 100 base cards and 7 regular "holofoil" chase cards in addition to this super chase card. The card was a collaboration between Jim Valentino and Matt Groening (who also collaborated on the 1994 Skybox Arty Art Card called "Shadowbart and Homer Hawk"). The card was inserted approximately 1 in every 432 packs or so. The opportunity to win an uncut sheet of Shadowbart Cards was also found in Overstreet Fan #3 magazine (August 1995).
R) 1996 Madman (#44) Card ($10 - $20) This card by Mike Allred is a tribute to Matt Groening (the creator of Life in Hell and the Simpsons). I don't have any more information on this card at this time.
